The Stonehollow Fairgrounds are ready for Halloween! Meet the Adventurers' Guild in their costumes and talk to them to claim new and exclusive seasonal cosmetics!
New Event Quest: "Trick or Treat". Sweettooth is too scared to go trick-or-treating alone, so join him in his quest for candy! Talk to him at the Stonehollow Fairgrounds to start this limited-time quest. Don’t miss out: the quest and its special rewards will only be available until the end of October!
New Quest: "Little Red Missing Hood". A cape has gone missing, and you must find it before the full moon! Talk to Luna at the Desolate Ruins at level 137 to begin your search.
The Firefly Grove has received a complete visual revamp just in time for the season! You'll find the same NPCs, enemies, and warps, but with a brand-new layout and a much gloomier atmosphere. Oh, and Frutills are now ghosts. (Scary.)
Introducing: Champions
Any enemy you face during a quest or hunt now has a chance to become a Champion, a much stronger version of that monster with unique patterns and dodgeable attacks!
Champions are designed to make regular combat more dynamic and unpredictable, and this new system also gives us the foundation to create even more exciting encounters, Remnants, and Trials in future updates!
Hunts, Revamped!
Hunt objectives across the entire game have been reworked! Hunts will now send players after a much wider variety of enemies throughout Aetera instead of repeatedly focusing on the same few mobs.
Combined with the new Champion system, this should make combat progression feel much more varied and engaging!
Enter the Vestadian Sewers
The Vestadian Sewers are now accessible through a manhole hidden in the alleyways of Vestada!
Down there you'll meet Slipperypalms, a new vendor who can sell you quest rewards from quests you've already completed. (Especially useful if you've accidentally sold your Flower Crown for the fifth time).
More Performance Improvements
We've been working hard to make Eterspire run better and use fewer resources across practically every device! This update reduces Eterspire's RAM usage by more than 20%, a huge improvement that should help particularly on devices with limited memory!
We've also optimized the game's rendering, reducing rendering time by around 10%.
And we're not done! These are only the first few rounds of performance optimizations we have planned, and we'll continue working to make Eterspire run better and more efficiently over the next several updates!
And There's More!
The Adventurers' Guild is now a free teleport destination!
We've made another round of improvements to Eterspire's early-game experience. Combat encounters, enemy placement, quest rewards, and several other details throughout the first few levels have been adjusted to make starting your adventure smoother and more enjoyable.
Bugfixes
Fixed a bug where interacting with Infinite-only warps while using the Point & Click control scheme would still attempt to use the warp even if you don't have Eterspire Infinite.
Using Vicious Strike or Shadow Strike while their respective buff is already active will now correctly refresh the buff duration. This fixes an issue introduced in our previous update.
Fixed an issue that could cause frame rate drops when entering an area with different music.
The Recipe List at the Transmogrification Table can now be scrolled using a controller, just like other similar lists.
Coming in Eterspire v84!
A brand-new cosmetic set is coming to the Eterspire Store! It's been a while since we introduced a new set, and this one is arriving just in time to celebrate the spirits that wander Aetera at this time of year...
There’s more coming after that, too! You can check out the other features, updates, and content we’ll be working on throughout the rest of the year in our Q3 & Q4 Roadmap.
Community
Our previous Community Contest, Dress to Distress, has ended and the rewards have been given out! Eterspire Discord members were asked to shake us to the bones with their spoooookiest in-game disguises in preparation for Halloween!
They are soft. They are marketable and easy to carry. They are coming soon, along with this patch's customary Community Event on our official Discord server... (We've already teased this, but Manu is telling me that we have to do it again. How do you tease something that's been already teased without actually spoiling it? These are the philosophical questions we ask here at Stonehollow Workshop.) (We have no answers.)
The previous patch's combat improvements brought with them super-duper secret tech only available to those players blessed (cursed?) with number-go-upitis, shaking the Bastion Challenge meta to its core. In particular, the Bloodline guild has achieved the absolutely bonkers feat of getting the number one spot in all six leaderboards (by no small margin!) Congratulations to Stormzone, Shlap, Soeasy, and Yacine (Group — Wave 255), Shlap (Warrior — Wave 230, Guardian — Wave 255, and Rogue — Wave 260), Lyse (Sorcerer — Wave 205), and Smokex (Archer — Wave 255). You guys scare me a little. In a good way. I think.
Lyse and Smokex have also decided to flex on all of us mere mortals by showing us how they clear endgame content completely on their own. You can watch Smokex's clearing ToTD on his own here. Here's also Lyse soloing ToTD (without reaching yellow health) and TotP3 (without buffs, skills, ultimates, or amulets.) I genuinely have no more ways to express my amazement at all of this.
That's it!
Thank you for reading, we hope you enjoy this update very much!
Update Schedule Changes!
The next Eterspire update will be on October 20th, according to our Release Schedule. Remember that Eterspire updates release on the first and third Tuesday of every month, unless that day falls on a holiday, in which case it will be released on the next business day.
Have fun!
Content Creators
Affiliate Content Creator Swornsword has released a brand new video to their Hardcore Eterspire series, where they feature both gameplay and insightful commentary on the different aspects that make up Eterspire and how it can improve. I always look forward to these!
Manu has apparently taken to the habit of sliding into people's DMs unprompted. This time, it was MMORPG-focused youtuber Mick MMO, who made a video all about it! Let's hope Manu's been on his best behaviour during this new phase of his life.
One of our brand new affiliates and well known community members, Saltycr, made a video about Eterspire's Lesser Remnants; those that don't appear in the Remnant List. There's some I didn't even know about!
